"Our earliest experiments in drawing are portraits. Before you became conscious of structure, likeness, or technique, you grabbed up a crayon and scribbled portraits of the people who meant the most to you. But as we grow and learn more about the complexities of getting a resemblance or communicating emotions we become overwhelmed. In this workshop I will present my methods for creating living portraits in pastel. Using a theoretical framework to construct the head and face I will show you how to quickly create a refined likeness, even from sub-par reference. And once you no longer need to stress about representation you can return to that sense of play from your childhood that drew you to art in the first place." ~ Corey Pitkin
Participants may work from a live model (provided) or a photograph you provide. Please be sure the photograph has good lighting/contrast and facial features can be easily viewed .
